It’s gratifying to know you’ve helped someone in need, especially in light of the challenges we’ve all faced over the last two years. Here’s a small list of some of the non-profits and charities doing great work in our area. We hope they’ll inspire you to feel gratitude, and to know what a difference each and every one of us can make in the world.

Person to Person

Person-to-Person provides families and individuals in need with assistance to help overcome daily challenges, and provide resources to improve lives, while educating and raising awareness about the impact of poverty and injustice. Assistance includes food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, college scholarships, and a summer camp for children.

Sound Waters

Long Island Sound is a source of beauty and the home to a diverse ecosystem that keeps our environment healthy. SoundWaters believes in protection and preservation  through education, inspiring children from all backgrounds to understand and protect this precious resource. Sound Waters offers programs that apply dynamic hands-on science to meaningfully develop perspectives that create curious, engaged students who go on to become lifelong environmental stewards.

Camp Amerikids

The ELM Project holds an enriching summer camp for underserved youth living with chronic illness which focuses on building tools for a healthy, independent future.

Their mission is to uplift and empower, helping students develop trust, discover strengths, and realize potential. Regardless of economic, social, or medical challenges, Camp Amerikids believes all children should have the opportunity to experience joyful, carefree, inspiring interactions and learning environments. ELM stands for Encourage, Lead, Mentor, which represent the tenets of the Camp Amerikids’ programming.

Healing Hearts

Healing Hearts Adaptive Recreation provides social and recreational programs for children of all ages with special needs, supporting them into young adulthood. Their programs focus on building friendships, fitness, and independence. Healing Hearts offers programs ranging from special cultural outings, classes in music, art, and cooking, and a Friday “Club Night” with dancing, games and pizza.
